Kalsubai ; The highest Point of Sahayadris in Maharashtra!
(18th July 2015)
Finally, after planning and
postponing for a long time, Kalsubai, the highest point of Sahayadris in
Maharashtra happened, and that too when I wasn’t mentally ready for any outing
after coming out of Vipassana retreat. I thought that at least for a week I would
need some time to come back to my normal wandering (outer) self. But then
again, as I have always been saying,” what’s
meant to be shall find its course.” “May
be Kalsubai’s call to me is at this time only,” I thought when Komal, a
friend from Gujarat called on 12th of July, even after my texting to
her that I need two days to think over it. But as she had to book the tickets
and all, and she had just that weekend off, she wanted the answer sooner, and
then what, I said, “Yes, I am in.”
Had it been for something else, like marriages and shopping’s, I would have
made amplest of excuses, but when someone asks me for a trek or travelling, I never
say no. Selfish me, I know! (wink) My wandering bug loves outdoors, where
nature is at its best and Sahaydris in Monsoon, hmm I would call that
tempting!!!
We booked the trek with TMI, and as it would be a guided trek, I was mentally free and by now I have enough
confidence in climbing Mountains. And yes, the trek had been the most
moderate and memorable one. We traveled by bus from Mumbai to Bari village,
the base of Kalsubai trek in Ahmednagar district on 17th night. TMI
had its own jugaad for breakfast & lunch in the Village itself with locals.
So after getting fresh and having our breakfast, we started our trek @ 7:30 am,
and walking up and down through muddy, slippery tracks due to on-off rain and
enjoying the beauty of western Ghats that looked enchanting with greenery,
clouds and waterfalls, we reached the top at around 11:00 am. Without going
into too many details here I share some pictures now:
|
"The Houses in Bari Village" |
|
"Rice plantation! Hard working farmers! Farmers, our country's pride!" |
|
"Monsoon love; The bond between Sahayadris and Rains in Monsoon is quite enchanting!" |
|
"Oh, thanks to the mastermind behind these iron railings and ladders fixed through steep Mountain ridges! It has made the journey to Maa Kalsubai's shrine easier for everyone!" |
|
"The last stretch and we shall be on top!" |
|
"So here I am, on the highest top of Sahaydris in Maha, where the wind blows at full force & your flight mode is automatically ON!" (Sub-zero gravity) :P |
|
"Maa Kalsubai's temple on top, where only 3 people can sit at a time!" |
|
"So happily we take our return journey back home!" |
|
"Goodbye Kalsubai, goodbye Beautiful Bari. We had great time there. Thank you for treating us well!"
|
So, with our eyes and hearts filled with beautiful memories of Monsoon Trek to Kalsubai, we took our return journey to home happily and fully satisfied. It is said that '
beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, but there are some beauties which even a person with no eyes can see and feel, and that's the beauty of nature." Again it was an A-Awesome trek! All smiles! Keep smiling! :-) :-)

Be good to nature and nature will be good to you."" Nawi
